Formation

If someone chooses the life of a Sister of the Good Shepherd, she has the possibility to get to know our congregation, our spirituality and our ministries. The time of the Pre-Novitiate, which lasts up to two years, serves this purpose.

During the two-year period of the Novitiate acquisition with religious life as a Good Shepherd Sister takes place. During the first year, deepening of the spirituality, the study of the vows and the history of the order takes priority. During the second year the different communities and their tasks are made known as well as a placement in another province is completed. At the end of the novitiate there is the Profession, where the four vows (poverty, chastity, obedience and apostolic zeal) are made; at first for one year.

The Juniorate, which lasts five years, serves further education in the spiritual and professional field and also working in our apostulates, in order to stabilise the person in her life as a Sister of the Good Shepherd, and to give her the opportunity to examine if this way of life is for her.

The Final Profession at the end of the Juniorate is the lifelong commitment to the order.
